Preparations

This spring is a time of preparations.

Preparing our home for the arrival of a delightful baby boy - washing clothes and diapers, making space, and getting all the little things in place.

Preparing our little girl to be a big sister - talking to baby brother, feeling his kicks and squirms, practicing diaper changes, sharing treats and toys with him (a.k.a, sticking them up mommy's shirt), and getting to "share" some of his toys (like the cool new football that is just too fun to toss around!).

Preparing our hearts for the newborn phase all over again - the sleepless nights (but they are already sleepless, so maybe I'll actually be getting more sleep!), the exhaustion, the crying, all the little "firsts", the coos and milk-drunk sleepy faces.

Preparing to say "goodbye" to Portland - to pack up our cozy home into boxes, to say goodbye to all the wonderful friendships that we have made in the past two years, to finally feeling like we know where things are around town; goodbye to the quick trips to the beach, and goodbye the beautiful season of being close to my mom and brothers, sister-in-law, grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. It will be a difficult goodbye.

Preparing to say "hello" to Texas - to a new home, new friends, new places, and (thank the Lord!) familiar faces. We look forward to this new season of being close to Zac's side of the family and are excited for many fun times with aunts, uncles and cousins (not to mention a Didi who will love to visit quite often)!

  2. You look beautiful Larissa! We're so happy for you guys and what God's placed in your lives next (baby and PhD both) and we'll be praying for you during the difficult goodbyes. Enjoy those beautiful flowers out there for us - things are JUST starting to green up around here.
